More digital infrared folded buildings. This one l More digital infrared folded buildings. This one looked like a spaceship before I even started and took the pictures.
.
Funny thing about digital infrared - bright sunny days are not so ideal for the colors I like. I do like this orange and purple combo, but want to get colors I got before.
.
Gotta check the data.

This is The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, Doylestown, PA - opened in 1955.
Many years ago I saw several photos in an exhibiti Many years ago I saw several photos in an exhibition by Wendel White. His series titled Schools for the Colored had a real impact on me. The series documented the architecture of the segregated schools in the States. His photos show the architecture in its current state. There’s one in Trenton, NJ that I recognized. In his text the series is described as: The architecture and geography of America’s educational apartheid.
.
I show his work to the students in my intro and advanced photo classes.
.
With this in mind, I wanted to start a project along the lines of referencing his treatment to the images. The process that I find brilliant is isolating the building - but leaving in some power lines, some trees, metal things in the way (I call street furniture) - stuff that ordinarily might ruin the shot, but you have to accept that it is there - in the landscape of your subject matter.
.
These are digital infrared images of the Church building in Harbourton Village, NJ - established in 1803.
The mirroring is to simply alter the reality of the architecture.
.
I have a lot more on the way that look like spaceships.

BETTER HOMES, 2020. . I'll be the first to admit t BETTER HOMES, 2020.
.
I'll be the first to admit that I've become rather unraveled from being stuck at home for this long. Attempting to process scenarios of the future. The uncertainty. So I made some art.
.
This series of photographs was created to mirror a project I asked my students to work on titled 'The Library of Ordinary Objects'. So far, they have produced remarkable work with only being able to work in two spaces - inside their house, and outside their house. .
I put a little box together of 'bits' - similar in scale and that had some meaning. I would figure out how to photograph these 'bits' to be my library. Looking for a background, I found this magazine 'Better Homes' from 1971 in my basement. 201 Time-tested recipes with a free bottle of Prell shampoo. The photography of the food is great, but the copy writing had to have been written by a legend.
.
So, I did this project with little thought (not surprised) other than the bits and magazine. I'd open up the magazine at a random page take some of bits, lay them out and then take the picture. If I started to think into what I was doing the combo didn't feel right or work in a way that other ones did. I just placed bits on the page and then nudged them about - but that was it.
.
Here's the list of titles:
01. Prell Ad, spoon, ice pick
02. Cobb Salad with Chewbacca, fanta lid, praying hands
03. Vegetable Classics with Queen Elizabeth II, foot, paintbrush
04. Man-Sized Sandwiches with pencil, post, pepsi, key, pickle fork
05. Red Devil with C-3PO, boing, squirt
06. Plump Crusty with McDonald's ash try, buttons, vampire teeth
07. Shimmering Super Salad with guitar pick, 4, oyster shell, coke
08. Raspberry Bomb with battery, button, soldier, vampire teeth
09. Velvet Smooth Lemon with Atari air freshener, spoon, lid
10. Great Looking Hair with E.T, earring and C-3PO
.
I noticed a lot more food pictures I really like so I'll probably have another go at it.
.

What I have learned.
Underexpose the digital infrared by a stop or two.
Use a split tone filter on the lens.
Don’t bother to process, or over-process the image.
.
The blue images at the end are the intermediate step from digital capture to final channel swapped image.
Weird. So that’s what happens on the way.
